The channelling tool is used in various ways here both to outline the figures from the background and to create depth in the folds of the soldier's clothing.
Notes
The stone is very damaged in this area and so individual toolmarks are not visible but still the level of attention paid to outlining the key features of the scene and the texture applied to the tree trunks can be seen.
